Band

The 223 Red Lion / Vernon Combined Cadet Band is an optional military marching band program for cadets who enjoy music and performing as part of a team.

Musical Skill Development

Cadets learn to play instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums, and even bagpipes.
Instruction is provided by qualified instructors, and cadets receive music theory training, performance & competition practice, and ensemble experience.

Leadership & Teamwork

Playing in a band is like being part of a team—cadets learn to coordinate, listen, and lead within a group setting.
Senior cadets may take on roles like Drum Major, Bandmaster, or Section Leader, building leadership skills.

Community Involvement

Bands perform at parades, ceremonies, and public events, helping cadets build confidence and pride while representing their squadron.

No Cost to Participate

Instruments, music books, and supplies are provided by the squadron at no cost to the cadet.

Squadron Calendar

Once the training year is planned, reviewed, and confirmed the Squadron Calender is populated as a guide to help Cadets, and their caregivers stay informed.

223 Red Lion/ Vernon Combined Cadet Band Schedule

223 Red Lion Band training schedule is as follows:

Sunday night, from 18:30 hrs to 20:45 hrs unless otherwise directed.
1250 Mission Rd, Vernon, BC (G20 building at the Vernon Military Camp)

Additional Band activities and or events are provided as complimentary training on other evenings and or weekends.

Band may also include overnight activities such as the Okanagan Millitary Tattoo or the Abbotsford cadet band competition.

If a Cadet is unable to attend a Sunday night, and/or the complimentary training they had signed up for, we ask that they send a message to the Cadet365 teams group chat so that they may be marked as Absent Excused.

It is YOUR responsibility as a musician to ensure you have all the music and equipment required to play & perform, and notify the current Drum Major or Bandmaster about needed, missing, and lost music and equipment.
